pre-med

so how difficult is it too maintain grades at MIT. I want to go on to medical school, but I'm afraid that the classes at MIT will be way to difficult for me. I mean MIT's general reqs are like ridiculous

There are been a number of threads on this issue if you search in the MIT forum. In short, it is possible to maintain a solid GPA at MIT with some planning, avoiding overloading your schedule. and picking the right major. There are many premeds at MIT, with most of them chemistry, biology or neuroscience majors. The premed requirements are for the most part integrated in MIT's core curriculum, so students are ready for the MCATs by the end of sophomore year. The overall acceptance rate to med schools for MIT students was 84% last year and close to 90% for those who took advantage of premed advising, in line with other top colleges, especially since their is no pre-screening of applicants or weed-out classes. NO school can wave a magic wand for med school admission.

It's difficult if you overload on too many classes or if you choose engineering.

^^Is it really? I'm doing course 2A (the one designed for mech, biomedE, and premed). Do you think that will be fine? I'm very into physics and already took differential equations. I'm not worried about it being hard...I guess I'm only worried about it being impossible and ruining my GPA.

Course 2A is specifically designed with fewer required subjects so you should be able to take a number of electives outside your major and meet all the premed requirements.

... it's perfectly possible to have a good GPA and be an engineer.
