I’m planning to apply to Georgetown as a Biology major, under the pre-medicine track. A few questions:

How good is Georgetown’s pre-medicine program? Acceptance rate to medical school?

How competitive are students at Georgetown? Getting an “A” impossible?

What makes Georgetown stand out as a better pre-medicine school compared to other colleges?

Georgetown does have a good pre-med program, with over a 75% acceptance rate, while the national average is somewhere down around 30-40%.

Anywhere you go, the pre-med track is going to be really hard, so no matter where you go, you are just going to have to work really hard if you want to get an "A". From my experience, the pre-med students all seem very supportive, rather than competitive.

The one advantage that Georgetown has for pre-med is that the Georgetown medical school and hospital are right on campus, and they are one of the few in the country that has this. This gives you a lot of opportunities for doing clinical observation or volunteer work, and basically just getting hospital/medical experience. They also have an Early Acceptance Program, where you apply to Georgetown's medical school the end of your sophmore year, and if you get in, you don't have to take the MCAT's or anything.

Thanks for your informative post, jangel86.

well, the acceptance rate for medical students for their first choice is nationally around 45%.. Georgetown's is double that, with a 90% acceptance rate, not the 75% listed above. Go for it, the program is great!
