Did anyone get the email invitation? For the veterans....do you recommend attending or is it a waste of time?

Thanks!

I’ve heard good things about Pre-O, but I don’t think it is really necessary. Basically, it is a way for you to go ahead and make some friends before classes start. It can be fun though. Some of my friends went and really enjoyed it. I don’t know if it actually helps you make the transition better or not, though. Although the transition really isn’t that hard. :P

yeah i got the invitation. i registered for it yesterday.

I got the invitation, but I will not be going. Doesn’t it take place those days where we will be on campus before classes begin? Personally, I don’t want to use up those days going to any pre-scheduled events or doing whatever we will be doing. I want to explore campus and do things in my dorm… Of course, I have never experienced Pre-O, and thus I cannot say whether it would be helpful or fun or not, but I dislike the idea of it.

Having a program for underrepresented minorities is a good thing; having a program that takes those underrepresented minorities away from the other students and stopping them from experiencing those first few days freely - seems to me like an error in judgment. Rather than learning about Carolina in any scheduled way with only other students in ethnic minority groups, I want to experience Carolina with all the students I care to meet. That is just my opinion based on what I know…
