I was wondering if anyone is thinking of following a pre-optometry program?

ok..im going to share something that i feel is one of the few things i have learned from my parents..i know it will ruffle feathers, but..such is life. Pre-degrees are not always the best idea...We're young, we change our mind, A LOT. Supouse after four years of school, you want to take some time off before going to med/dental/pharm/law/vet/opt school...OR you decide you don't want to go into that carrer field at all. Trust me, I work at a teaching hospital, it happens ALL the time. I've seen a lot of med students quit, only to have to go back to square 1. You have a degree, but you can do nothing with it, you're essentialy stuck..If you're going to go to med school, consider majoring in biology, chemistry for pharmacy, etc. That way, if you change your mind, you have a lot more soild degree to fall back on, with many many more options.

Please no one take the the wrong way! I'm just voicing my opionin..don't take me the wrong way..to each their own.

Thanks for the advise Nikki422. Although I am considering following a pre-professional program, I do think it is better to major in Biology just in case I do change my mind. - no, I dodnt find you'r post offensive in any way - lol

I am considering a few pre-degree programs (vet, med, pharm and PT), but I plan on majoring in either biology or chemistry, because I think it's much more solid. You make a very good point Nikki.
