Hello all,
So I will be going to Duke this fall and was wondering if I should go to the pre-orientation programs. I was specifically looking at the Project Change and Project Build programs.
Has anybody here gone to one of them and have anything good or bad to say about them?

Thanks! :)

I didn’t do a pre-orientation program, and to be honest that’s one of the only things I really regret about my first year experience. I have friends who did them, and not only were the programs themselves really fun, but everyone who did them came to school with a group of friends and upperclass mentors. It’s definitely a great opportunity, and its impact extends far beyond the week or two the program runs.

I say totally go.
Like what the person above me said, not going to a pre-orientation program is something I regret. It’s a great way to make friends before orientation, and get to know some of the upperclassmen.
I heard build is fun - two of my friend (they’re really really cool people!) are going to be one of the leaders next year. I’m not too sure about change, I haven’t heard of anybody talking about them.
It’s also fun to move in early.

I’m with the two above posters – not doing a pre-orientation program is probably the single regret I have from my time at Duke so far.

My freshman year roommate and several of my other friends did pBUILD and they came away with so many close friends (upperclassmen and freshmen) before orientation even started. If you have the time/money, I say do it.
