The admitted students group for class of 2018 on Facebook is a place to start. You will go through SOAR (summer orientation and registration) with 200 or more other freshman. There are also summer camping, canoeing etc trips for small groups of freshman that cost $200-600 and are a way to meet others, if you like that kind of activity.

You will also have many activities just before classes start after you can move into your dorm. Many “Wisconsin Welcome Week” activities start off the semester. Remember there are around 6000 new freshmen each fall and you won’t meet most of them. You are likely to begin by spending time with others in your dorm and meet people in classes and activities- places you have something in common with people. Do not worry if the first people you meet do not become long term friends. This is a diverse campus with many different types of people, no sense of being in a class like there may be in HS or some small colleges.

SOAR is where you will register well before you move to campus so there are no programs before that.
