I got a list of em in my packet and want to do one. which should i do?

For what it's worth, all the people I know who did FOCI loved it.

Yes, I'm sort of confused about the importance of all the leadership pre-orientation stuff. Does anyone know how important it is to apply and get into those programs? My parents think that it's absolutely necessary if I ever want to do any leadership later (essentially, they believe that if I don't do these programs then I will never get a job in life). So before I waste away my time writing essays that don't matter for anything, I'd like to know if they are correct or whether those programs don't really matter too much (as in, can you be successful in your extracurriculars at Georgetown without having done the programs) or does it give you a huge boost? Anyone know?

Having graduated from Georgetown, I can assure you that attending these Pre-NSO programs is entirely OPTIONAL, emphasis on optional. While they are a great opportunity to meet people, Georgetown is a small enough place where classes/clubs/dorms are great places to meet people. So go if you wish, otherwise, no need to fret. HOYA SAXA!

L&B freakin' ruled.
It was a lot of fun.
Obviously, they are optional, and have no bearing on your future aspirations (ha)
But they are a really really good way to get to know people in your class/ other classes before school actually starts, and a great way to get acquainted with the campus/surrounding area. You get a head start on the rest of your class!
The people who do the programs are generally really motivated, really energetic, and really fun (not that the rest of the gtown population isn't) But you get a really cool network of friends rill' early.
