Pre-Orientation Programs

How selective are they?

Also is there a way for freshmen to take summer classes before the start of freshman year. Just curious.

Don’t take classes before freshman year unless they make you (ie, remedial calc). Just stop that thought right there.

I don’t think they’re very selective (also *** is with all this talk of selectivity about otherwise bs things, like residential programs and orientation? ***?), and I’ve heard they’re fun. Good way to meet people.

Anyone know about pennacle? I know it is the leadership pre-orientation program. But what does that really mean? The activities that are listed on the website are very vague…

I really want to do an internship this summer, but there aren’t even any unpaid ones that seem interesting…Does anyone know of any computer science/business type internships for HS seniors?

njaznpremed: revise that statement to say “… for college seniors?” and then you’d have a more accurate picture of the world.

for anyone who did pre orientation programs or knows about them:
did they help u meet people
are they hard to get into
was it fun
which ones are best

also if u do one i know that u cant do the early move in
is the early move in a smart move to avoid the crazy move in day

I know a few people who did the programs (Africana/Afrikana?, PFP, and PennQuest; I think Afrikana and PFP are longer programs in June?) Some of them are still really close with the people they met in the program, others not so much. Everyone who did it said it was a lot of fun though.

I moved in early because I had to attend ISO, and I thought it was nice because I got all my stuff into the room and didn’t have to deal with the craziness of offical move-in (e.g. waiting for the elevators, trying to sign out carts, etc.)
