Pre-Orientation Programs?

I really want to do ones, but I want some reviews. I am thinking either launch or the medicine and society one.

My D did habitat for humanity. I think she was very glad to do it and to get acclimated in advance of actual orientation. I don’t think she remains in touch with any other HFH students from the pre-O but it did give an initial lifeline.

Pre-O is a wonderful opportunity to get into an interesting EC ahead of time, meet and bond with some new freshmen ahead of time, get settled in your dorm room ahead of time, and be cool as a cucumber (and relatively well-rested) by the time the rest of the freshmen arrive.

There’s a huge variety of Pre-O options from which to choose, and if your time and budget allow, I enthusiastically recommend it.

Is the pre-O right before the school starts, How does it work for internationals?

I thought I read somewhere that (maybe from the mail school sent me) all the int’ls have to attend Explore Program. And Explore Program actually includes pre-O.

Last year Pre-O was August 16 through August 19, with freshmen (who did not enroll in Pre-O) arriving on August 20.

Ok, so no special trip is required, its just before the school actually starts?

We had no idea that the deposit check has to be mailed! Why isn’t it online?

I think most schools have to mail checks.

we would have to decide sooner than May1 then coz we are abroad.

I suggest you use UPS express, it cost like $40 and it arrive the next day

How’s WUTV’s Pre-O? And the newspaper one – Student Press? Or the entrepreneurship? Anyone been there before?

Hi, I’m “new” to the forums (been lurking, but have not posted)! Some time ago, I sent an email to the Office of Orientation regarding international Pre-O. They replied that the Explore Program is compulsory for internationals residing outside the U.S., and recommended for those living in the U.S…

Also, they informed me that those participating in the Discover program will not be able to participate in the other Pre-O Programs since the dates overlap. :(

@Xray11: tell me if I’m wrong, but I thought only the Explore Program’s mandatory (for int’ls) and Pre-O’s are included in Explore…I even checked the online registration page, there’s like 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of Pre-O programs…or is it b/c you wanna participate in Discover?

They didn’t say whether the Discover program is compulsory or not (neither did I :stuck_out_tongue: ) but they did say that those who are participating in the program will not be able to participate in the other Pre-O programs since the dates overlap. :(

when do we sign up for the pre frosh programs?

Well, they already placed me in Leadership Through Service program. Can anyone tell me how it’s like?

I’ve just found out that we don’t have to participate in the Discover program. :)
