Is admission into the pre-orientation programs rolling or does it not matter when you submit your application as long as it is before the deadline?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions/advice about pre-orientation programs/applying for the pre-orientation programs--which ones are the best? which ones have the best chance of acceptance? how many to apply to?

I believe that they are not rolling.

Here’s some advice:
DO IT DO IT DO IT! Pre-orientation programs are FANTASTIC! They’re a great way to start off freshman year, you’ll have a great week, and then you’ll enter NSO (New Student Orientation) with a good group of friends!

I did PennQuest last year, and in my humble (well, biased) opinion, it is by far the best. But truthfully, you can’t go too wrong with any of the pre-orientation programs. I would apply to everyone that sounds interesting. I applied to all but one last year (not PennArts since I don’t have a talent for music). It increases your chances of getting into them. As far as the application essays…spend a good chunk of time on them. These programs are competitive and selective (especially PennQuest), but well worth the time and effort. Just be yourself in your essays!

I’d be more than happy to elaborate on my PennQuest experience if anyone wants to know or has any specific questions!

I did PennGreen and it was really fun!
PennQuest is probably the hardest to get into, just because it doesn’t have a ‘specialized interest’ so a ton of people apply (whereas penngreen is about environmentalism and penncorp is community service). Still apply because you never know if you would have gotten in.
Basically, apply to all that are interesting, and place them in order of what seems most interesting to you.

Does anyone know approximate acceptance rates for any of these programs?

There isn’t a set acceptance rate but programs that generate a lot more applications tend to have lower acceptance rates. In my year (2013), PennArts and PENNacle were especially popular so a lot of people were waitlisted.
