Pre Orientation Wilderness Trip

Does any one have any info on this? Do they send you stuff about it over the summer? And if you were to go on it, what do you do with all your stuff (computer, tv, fridge....) while your camping that week?

Also, do housing and roomate forms come over the summer as well?

It all comes I think late May or early June, in the same package. The camping trip is first come first served, so if interested, write in early.

Last year there were two sessions for the Wilderness Camping. One in early-mid August and one ending just a day or two before all other freshman arrive and move in.

If you picked the second session (or you did some other pre-orientation activity like COVE, or were up early for a team) you were allowed to move your things into your room, but were asked not to fully set up, so that those sorts of things (choosing bedrooms in a quad, desks, etc.) could be done in conjunction with your room mates when they arrived.

You'll also get names and e-mails of your room mates so that you can decide who will bring fridge, tv microwave etc.

I took the second session. If my memory serves me, my parents brought everything to Colgate when I returned, basically the day I moved in. I had to set up the same day as everyone else, but my roommate was in the COVE thing and moved in early. They'll send you more information over the summer. I smelled awful when I moved in, and met my other two roommates and their parents while wearing a towel, on my way to the shower. I suggest the first session, for that reason.

Yeah, but I live to far away. I'd have to fly out, do the trip, fly home and then drive back to Colgate with my family. It would be too much work and too much money. I'll have to do session 2.

But Ideally one would be best. I don't want to meet all my new classmates smelling like the wilderness.
