Pre-Orientation

Class of 2010--pretty soon you will probably get a letter or email about the pre-orientation community service program at Kenyon. I would HIGHLY recommend doing it! You will get to come to campus several days early and make lots of friends. Most of my best friends at school this year are friends from Pre-O. Plus you will meet lots of fun upperclassmen leaders. It is definitely a great experience!

I have several friends who are or were leaders and they all also speak very highly of it.

Hmm interesting... I'll have to think about it!

Oh that is nice to know about that. I wasn't sure Kenyon had a Pre-Orientation Program. But, ti looks really good and I'm looking forward to that.

im def. going to pre-orientation...I mean...make new friends...make connections with Kenyon people...I might even meet Paul Newman...who knows

Does anyone know what the dates are?

It begins on Saturday, August 19th and runs through Wednesday, August 23rd.. i think everyone else comes Thursday.

Do kids move in to their dorms then?

Welcome First-Year Student!

As you prepare to come to Kenyon this fall, we invite you to consider participating in an exciting Pre-Orientation Service Program being offered to a limited number of first-year students prior to Orientation. The program will work with a number of local non-profit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Headstart, Equine Assisted Therapy, Humane Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mt. Vernon, and Kenyon’s Brown Family Environmental Center. The projects will most likely involve landscaping, trail maintenance, working on a Habitat house, and much more. This program offers you an opportunity to meet new friends, learn about community service opportunities that will be available to you at Kenyon, and become acclimated to campus and the surrounding area. The program will begin on Saturday, August 19th and run through Wednesday, August 23rd. Orientation for the entire first-year class begins on Thursday August 24th.

Yeh, I got the e-mail from a fellow first-year (mine didn't come). Not sure if I'll do it though simply because the timing. Then again I just may. I'll mull about it until tomorrow. Looks interesting though. Do we know how much is a "limited" number of kids?

Last year there were 24 kids. I think they are hoping to expand it slightly this year, but I'm not certain. It is really nice to move into the dorms early and get settled, because the official move in day is CRAZY. I hope you will all participate!

Anyone get anything on this yet?

Just received an acceptance email for the pre-orientation program.
