I'm wondering how long the responses to the application should be. I don't want to write about a page, when they only expect a paragraph, or vice-versa. What have others done?

Also, is selection first-come-first-serve? Or is it based on a combination of when you submit the application and what your responses are?

For FUP, I wrote pretty long responses (2 extended paragraphs for two of the questions). This is mostly because the answers were so broad, and it's something that I'm pretty passionate about.

I was planning on submitting two-paragraph responses for the general questions and mid-sized paragraph responses for the MechE and EECS questions.

I just wrote a little bit... no more than 4-5 sentences for each question. Hopefully I'll make DEECS, but some of the others ones I applied for (History, OE) seemed pretty interesting.

Otherwise, I'll just see everyone on the 26th.

It would be really nice if they'd let us know if we're accepted or not soon so we can book our flights at the cheapest rates possible... (since they don't all require you to be there on the same exact day/time)

Has anyone else heard from them yet? I just found out that I "got in" to my first choice: Discover Earth (though since there were only 12 other kids and the site said 20 spots, I have a feeling it wasn't that difficult, lol). Do any of you know what you're doing yet?
