Pre-Orientation

I'm wondering how long the responses to the application should be. I don't want to write about a page, when they only expect a paragraph, or vice-versa. What have others done?

Also, is selection first-come-first-serve? Or is it based on a combination of when you submit the application and what your responses are?

I called the office and they told me that time is not considered in the selection--we are chosen by a committee.

Can anyone help me with my first question? How long should the responses be?

I was wondering about that too. I think I'm going to write 2-3 paragraphs for most of the questions.

Which FPOPs are you applying for?

???? I just answered them, lol, as long as I thought was necessary

I did about a paragrph for each one... the questions really aren't in-depth enough that they'd be looking for more than that, IMHO.

(Oh, and that's for OceanE, MechE, Kayaking and DEECS - I didn't look very closely at the questions for the other programs)

For FUP, I wrote pretty long responses (2 extended paragraphs for two of the questions). This is mostly because the answers were so broad, and it's something that I'm pretty passionate about.

I was planning on submitting two-paragraph responses for the general questions and mid-sized paragraph responses for the MechE and EECS questions.

I guess this seems decent.

I just wrote a little bit... no more than 4-5 sentences for each question. Hopefully I'll make DEECS, but some of the others ones I applied for (History, OE) seemed pretty interesting.

Otherwise, I'll just see everyone on the 26th.

-Jared

It would be really nice if they'd let us know if we're accepted or not soon so we can book our flights at the cheapest rates possible... (since they don't all require you to be there on the same exact day/time)

They tell us sometime next week probably because they are aware of the plane ticket situations.

Does anyone know how competitive FLP is?

Has anyone else heard from them yet? I just found out that I "got in" to my first choice: Discover Earth (though since there were only 12 other kids and the site said 20 spots, I have a feeling it wasn't that difficult, lol). Do any of you know what you're doing yet?

how did u find you "got in"?

I got into the leadership program! They send you an e-mail.

hmm haven't seem to got the email yet...

Hm, gigog, how did you find out how many people applied to the program?

btw: I got into the arts program :)

yay i got into the arts program

sweet....I got into Bio ^_^

Freshman Urban Program! My first choice, yipee.
