Pre-pharm student but uni doesn't offer chem 1 with labs??? what to do?!

Hello.

I am a 17 y/o first year at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I'm currenty considering going into the Pharmacy field after doing a lot of research (I was undecided up until 4 months ago & I'm still not sure if this is what i want to do), so for my first semester I've signed up for classes that fufill both my gen. ed. pre-reqs and some of my pre-pharm requirements as well.

I am currently trying to get into a Chemistry class, but chances are low due to class availability & add/drop ends this thurs. I also found out today that UCF's Chem I (CHM 2045C) does NOT have a lab, but instead a lecture and a discussion [Chem II does have a lab though].. I have visited many pharm schools' sites and they all require a lab component in chem I. I am not sure what to do at this point... should I still sign up and take the course and somehow find a way to do a lab at another school during the summer (if that's even possible??? my local community college does not offer chemistry 1 at all)?? I really don't know what to do in this situation... If it IS possible to do it like that, will it be counted against me in admissions? HAS ANYONE EVER ENCOUNTERED SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE? Should I just take the class???

University of Florida DOES have chemistry 1 with a lab but i don't even think it's possible for me to take classes there while im in UCF.. Has anyone ever had this problem before? I tried googling the 'chemistry without the lab' problem for pre-pharm students but to no avail.. and my advisors are not much help as UCF has no pharmacy school.. :(

Please, any input at all would help me tremendously. I greatly appreciate any and all replies from the bottom of my heart. :)

OP,

That is a good question. Most medical schools will require one year of lab for Bio, Chem, Org chem, and Physics. Is there an upper level elective lab course you can find? The college my son just applied offers no lab session for Org Chem I. The org Chem 2 course does have a lab session. The college does offer an upper level chem lab elective. I am not sure if that would be sufficient to cover the missing lab session for org chem I. This may turn out to be a big issue.
