pre-reqs for bioinformatics programs

Do these programs care if I take my math classes at a community college?

I am a life science major and thus have little math in my curriculum; the only way I can possibly get up to speed on math is by taking it at a community college (unit cap, cost) the year after I graduate my current undergrad.

Ookla, it sounded like you were considering working as a lab tech for a year or two after undergrad. One of the best benefits of doing this at a university is that you get free tuition.

I know my current university caps how many courses you can take to two per semester while you are an employee, but those classes are free for employees. Maybe instead of loading yourself down with extra credits and blow your senior year GPA, why not just take these math classes after college?

If you got the right tech job, you may even be able to make a bioinformatics project for yourself as a side project. Every lab can really benefit from having a good bioinformatics/biostatistics specialist.

belevitt thanks for replying.

I keep hearing from everybody that these bioinformatics/biostats people are in demand everywhere. Is that true?
