Hey, so I've been browsing around and people seem to be making a big deal about the grades they've earned in their pre-req classes. I always had in mind that GPA was the only thing that really mattered and that UCs only looked to see you completed the specific pre-req course (as opposed to them seeing the individual's grade earned).

I guess I'm wrong? Haha.

Do UCs stress the grade you've earned for pre-req classes? Or do they only stress that you've taken the course and see to your GPA? I've taken a few required courses so far and got a B in two of them. Sigh.

Depends on your major and which UC you applied to. Look at 1 and 2 here:

Well think about it this way, put your self in the admission officer's position. If you see people applying to your school as lets say a mathematics major and they have B's and C's in all their prereq math classes then chances are they're not going to do very well in the upper division math classes even though they have A's in all their GE classes. When you transfer you're not gonna be taking a whole lot of electives, you'll be concentrating on classes in your major. Your pre req gpa is an indicator of how well you know the material that is required for these classes and how likely you are to succeed in that subject at a harder level. They don't want to accept people who are going to do poorly once they transfer, they want people who are prepared for these upper division classes.

p.s. Whats your major?

JetForce, that makes sense. And thanks for that link. It really helps.

I want to double major: IDS and Sociology.
