Pre-requesite classes

Hello, i am applying for UCSB and cal poly SLO in the fall.(both of these schools have the same pre-reqs). On assist.org I have 4 out of the 6 classes already completed. I was wondering though, that when I apply should i already have all the pre-reqs done? Or do I need to have them completed by the end of spring 2014?

Have them completed by spring 2014

well, I mean technically yes, by the spring of 2014. But from what I’ve seen, it is seen in a more favorable light if you have more prerequisites completed by the end of the fall 2013 semester.

I don’t think it really matters… I did quite a few of my pre-reqs in the Winter/Spring and still managed to transfer to Berkeley (EECS). If they really care what you get in those courses, they’ll put it in the terms and conditions when you’re accepted. It might help a bit to show that you’re good at/enjoy your major, but I wouldn’t rush pre-reqs for that.

Also, Berkeley EECS is a heavy prereq major. With many prereqs to get to the actual prereqs. So it is a bit more understandable to not have them completed by the fall. My understanding has been, if you can finish them in the fall and fit into your schedule then do it. If not then don’t. I always imagined it as, if it comes down to my app and another app for the final spot I would want every leg up I could get. And having the prereqs finished is certainly a leg up.

Ok well in the 4 pre-reqs I’ve received A’s in all of them. So as long as I do the last 2 pre-reqs before the end of spring 2013 then I will be ok? I also will have igetc completed and a 3.8 gpa

You should do the remaining prerequisites this fall if possible. Getting all A’s in all of the prerequisites will certainly boost your chance of getting in anywhere.
