Okay, so I only have time to take 1 more science course (maybe more, but there’s a possibility I can only do 1 more) should I do AT physics 1 or AT biology? I haven’t done a physics course in the high school yet, and I have done biology and chemistry. On the other hand, I did physics etc in middle school, and I want to major in biology in college. Is a high school physics course a pre-requisite for most “good” colleges (and thus should I pick physics over biology)? I would rather do AT biology as I enjoy biology far more, but I don’t want to have not taken a physics course in high school. What are your recommendations?
Anyone looking to major in biology (or any of the life sciences - microbio, geneetics, molecular biology, etc) in college should absolutely take biology, chemistry, and physics in high school. You will be required to take at least 2 semesters of each in college and college classes often have a steep learning curve if you’ve never seen the material before. High school physics is VERY different from middle school physics. It would not be a good idea to rely on a middle school level physics class as a background for a college level physics class. Although you prefer biology, and I understand that, you absolutely need physics.
Take physics! What are you considering majoring in? If you’re considering the sciences then you absolutely need some physics experience. Most biology and chemistry degrees require physics.
Colleges generally like to see that a student has taken HS bio, chem, and physics so given that you haven’t taken physics yet I’d take AT Physics.
Take Physics, especially since you plan to major in the sciences and will thus be expected to have taken it.
