I hope on taking AP Chinese Lang sometime throughout high school (I’m a freshman). Are there any pre-requisites for the class? I may take Chinese I at my local community college.
Thank you :)!
Disclaimer: I’ve never taken Chinese before nor am I a native speaker.
The school sets the prerequisites. Per the College Board:
https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse/ap-chinese-language-and-culture/course-details
So, it’s generally taught after Chinese III or Chinese IV at the HS level. Speak to the Chinese teacher to see if your level of preparation is enough.
Probably a waste of time unless you cannot read/write Chinese characters.
^ Err, if the student has never taken Chinese, taking HS Chinese 1,2,3 and 4 would be likely pre-requisites for AP Chinese and community college Chinese1 (covering two years of HS Chinese in 4 months) would be EXTREMELY challenging.
@MYOS1634 Sorry, I misread the OP. I thought s/he said s/he was a native speaker. So, yeah, you are correct.
Happens to me too
