Pre-Screen Results list for class of 2024

@NYYFanNowMTdad - The only school we have heard from (Emerson) does not use acceptd, so my D received an email message telling her to check her portal, where her result was posted.

Anyone else?

@dramamama3 Syracuse took about a week. Rider was the same, but it showed up in her portal the day before we got the email. We submitted on September 8th. Still waiting on CCM, Otterbein, Texas State, Oklahoma, Penn State, ELon, and Shenandoah

Passes from Carnegie, Pace, Point Park, Syracuse, and CCM

When submitting my pre-screens, I did them very early back when slates were not included in the time limit. Because of the new common pre-screen, the guidelines state:

“This time limit includes the slate at the beginning of the piece and is strictly adhered to; please do not upload media files longer than 90 seconds.”

My college coach informed me to submit them anyway, but I am worried that I will not pass pre-screens, especially for some of my top-choice competitive colleges, like Elon. However, I don’t want to re-record everything. Will it be okay if I go eight or so seconds over the time limit? Will it harm my chances of passing?

@evangl2002 D went through this process last year. I don’t know if admissions will discard your prescreen, but they might. D adhered to all the guidelines set forth by the schools she wanted to attend. Elon was one of them.

@evangl2002 Although it is a total bummer, I would make sure my prescreen videos were within the time limits, especially when the instructions state that time limits should be strictly adhered to and specifically ask you not to upload any media over 90 seconds. So, if your videos are over 90 seconds, I would find a way to get them within the time limit, if not by editing, then by reshooting. I know that’s probably not what you wanted to hear, but why do anything that could cause a school not to view your videos? This is just my opinion though.

@evangl2002 I agree. Things are so competitive that I would not risk it. Also, think if you don’t pass the pre-screens, you will always wonder “what if”. Maybe see if you can make up the 8 seconds in the editing process.

It may help to add that you can always “speed up” your videos using iMovie. Most slates are 4 seconds so it may not mean re recording etc. It would require very little “speeding up” to get it under 1:30 and it really doesn’t make a huge impact when you watch it back. I would not risk them not opening it up b/c it is over 1:30.

We’ve heard from Emerson, CMU, Point Park, and Pace.
Waiting for Rider, Penn State, Shenandoah, Elon, and Western Connecticut.

Rider is the one that we’re anxious for - submitted 3 weeks ago, and their confirmation did not say when to expect results.

How long did Point park take to give a response? WE are waiting on them! As well as Rider, Elon, Penn State and several others

@lmkiker last year, my son’s Rider prescreen results (and ultimately his live audition results/admissions decision) appeared in the portal well before we got an email that the portal had been updated.

@Melanie97 penn state states on their website if submitted by 9/30 you will hear by 10/30 and if submitted after 9/30 " before Jan 6th". we heard from PP very quickly ( days) still waiting on Elon, Rider, Syracuse & others

not sure if I can post this link but figured it was good timing for an oldie but a goodie…

Crazy process - submitted almost everything last week - and now not sure what to expect… we are all going to need a sedative around here soon although my daughter is much less anxious than I am !

@lmkiker when did you submit CMU ?

I went back to see when we heard back from our prescreens last year just as reference. I know the waiting is terrible! As always each year can be different so take all these with a huge grain of salt. Hang in there!!

Ithaca submitted 11/2 passed on 11/8
Texas St submitted 9/26 got a no on 12/5
CMU submitted 9/26 passed on 9/28

We heard yes from CMU in 8 days but still nothing from Point Park;)

@suledamo thanks so much very helpful…sometimes it seems like people on cc only get yesses

Got a pass from Point Park today : )

Please keep in mind that the pre-screens are often divided up among faculty and possibly grad students and it has a lot to do when that individual gets to your file…this is why the timing does not appear linear from date of receipt to date of hearing outcome.

Some go through two people too before a decision is made.
