Has anyone that submitted pre-screens to Penn State AFTER 10/6 heard anything? (Yesses or no’s?.) I know they said they’d announce BY January, just wondering if some decisions will be sent before then?
@SingerDancerMom We submitted to Penn for MT (Oct 16) and Acting (Oct 22). Nothing yet.
We submitted late Oct nothing yet
@SingerDancerMom Did you check on your PSU portal?
When will Elon release MT and Acting offers from the Fall on-campus auditions?
I got a YES from Viterbo today - that’s 10 PASSES and 3 NOs - I am super happy with that… am waiting on Cincinnati, ECU and Elon and then I am done!
@ dramalove2020 congratulations that’s awesome!
@AnxiousNovice D got two quick nos last year (Acting). She applied to 9 schools and sent 6 prescreens. So, two weeks in and she was down to 7. She panicked at first, but then said it was her best effort, and she could not control what was out of her hands. Your D has a healthy number of schools and there’s a long way to go — here’s to a YES soon!
Folks who have heard from Rider, about how long after everything was in did you hear? I know there are other schools we aren’t going hear from anytime soon, but I sort of thought Rider would be a little quicker with the prescreen results.
Also, does anyone remember/know about how long is reasonable to hear back about the optional prescreen for Miami? Since it was optional, could we schedule an audition slot while we wait, then cancel it if the prescreen was unfavorable? I can’t even find where I’d do this on the website.
Still waiting on a few schools that I think will report this week, plus 3 I don’t think we’ll hear about until December/January (USC, Penn State, Elon). I just want to get everything scheduled so I can stop worrying about forgetting one.
Still waiting on Penn, Syracuse, Rider Kent, Roosevelt, Elon, and FSU. I know Elon will be later for sure. Applications went out end of October. Anyone who applied around then heard from any of these? Getting random email from a few but nothing more. The great wait!
We also submitted everything at the end-ish of October and have not heard from any of the schools on your list. I think Penn State said decisions on prescreens will come in early January, Elon said January 22nd. FSU didn’t start reviewing prescreens until 11/1 so might be a little while for them. Syracuse said 2-3 weeks.
@Dance3looks3 Thank you that was very helpful ?
DD got a pass from FSU tonight - submitted prescreen 10/30
We have been waiting for Rider for weeks! My kid called and they said they were still considering their prescreen materials…I am taking this as a good (ish) sign? At least they weren’t a quick no?
My DS heard from FSU tonight. He submitted 10/30. We will be there 2/8.
I don’t remember the specifics, but I know Miami had a supplemental BFA application that we could access via the website (and I think maybe via the Common App as well). Once my daughter filled that out, she received an email with the audition information. She didn’t do the optional prescreen (we live an hour from Miami, so it was the easiest of all the auditions as far as travel).
@MTActing- D got that too, along with an online questionnaire to fill out.
Thanks to all those who offered support/advice. It is particularly helpful to hear that success rates on prescreens do not necessarily correspond with success rates in live auditions. Still would be nice to get one pass… fingers crossed that something will come through this week.
I went through this a couple of years ago with my daughter. Out of applying for 5 schools (I was new and didn’t know we should do more), received 1 MT offers, 1 Acting, 1 Voice. Instead of going with MT she changed because of the program offered at the school and went with voice (OKCU). Couldn’t believe it. Now, she is a Junior and her field is within the casting industry and she has been in a couple Operas. She learned she hated the audition process because of the intense anxiety and this propelled her to look outside the MT box. So, for those receiving NOs… they are just NOs for performing. There are SO MANY other jobs related to MT besides acting as a profession. She still will perform locally because she enjoys it, but learned and grew in her experiences. Our kids will grow up and spread their wings, so don’t let any of the heartache or negativity define who they are, they will land exactly where they are to land… peace to you all.
@CBSQandA D checked the Rider portal today and clicked on the red X that said awaiting audition and it let her schedule. Never got an email or any other notification. She went ahead and scheduled. A little confusing. But give it a try! BAL
