Pre-screen

BRbway, don’t you work at Pace?

cellomom51-I am with you on prescreens. I’m not a total fan. I do feel like you can come off different on a prescreen-hence my D would do acting for film rather than theatre if that was her interest. I remember hearing at Shenandoah that with the prescreens they did get more applicants last year and the quality was up there as well.

My daughter sent her Pace application through the Common App on Oct. 29th. When we hit the submit button, we got the “error” page. We never received a confirmation email that it was received. I spoke to Admissions a few times and they said they didn’t have it yet. Then the Common App people told me it was submitted and there’s nothing else they can do. Yesterday I spoke with the actual person who would handle admissions for my daughter and she said she’d check on it with someone else. She still hasn’t called me back. But today I searched in their White Pages for my daughter and she is listed there as an “applicant” and she has a username. Last week she wasn’t listed there, so hopefully that means they got it. The woman I spoke with did give me her I.D.# to use on the Acceptd site. We are submitting that later today. We still have to upload the video. We would like to get the audition in Dec. in NY, because all the other dates they have, we have other auditions on. It seems most of the schools all coincide with their dates. Its really hard to plan this out. My D could always do March 1st., but she has University of the Arts (Philly) on that day. We can always change that one though. My head is spinning with all this, I can’t wait till its all over and we can take a breather.

Yah! My D finally was listed on the Pace White Pages - never received an email either.

Prescreen submitted, now the (short) wait begins! They said they would get back to people in a week after the prescreen is submitted and I’m sure they will unless Amy Rogers gets swamped with prescreens - the dedicated lady views all of them herself and makes the final decisions. That’s A LOT of work for one person!

I thought that was a lot of work for one person too, cellomom, but I also think it great that she wants to view them all. Everyone will know that she saw each and every prescreen and that she had input into who to bring to live auditions.

ok What are these white pages? is there a link?

iammtmom, the link is posted in a couple places on page 1 of this thread. Big help!

The odd thing is that now that they’ve received everything from my daughter, her name can no longer be found in the white pages. It freaked me out for a few minutes until I realized she still had an account. If that had been deleted, I may have been DONE!! LOL

Mine isn’t showing up! Did you just search her name?

I’m having the same problem! How did you solve it? And how do you see whether schools have downloaded your applications? Thanks!

To find your child’s Pace user name which you can use on the Accept’d site to send a prescreen, go the Pace White Pages via the link on the previous page, type in your child’s name on top and select Applicant in the pull down menu under Person Type. If they have uploaded his/her application you should see the user name after you hit search.

Not sure how to find out any other information but at least they can submit their prescreen. D is still waiting on an answer but she only submitted it 2 days ago so no worries yet.

cellomom51, is your user ID the one with two letters, ie xy85987x? I received an email from Pace with something that said ID#, and was a series of numbers, but in the Pace White Pages, my user ID is different, and contains a mix of my initials and a series of numbers.

^^The user ID is not the one with your initials. It’s the one that they sent you in the email. I believe my daughter’s begins with a “U”.

^^ Student ID starts with a U
and Username for Pace websit starts with initial. student id is not displayed on white pages.
to find your student id log into system with your username that was provided in email or can be found on white pages. here is the link: to log into applicant portal.

https://appsrv.pace.edu/APP-Portal/

one you log in – your student ID will be displayed at the top of the screen with your name

My D just submitted her pre-screen things last night. Now the waiting game.

Good luck caymangirl28! My D submitted her Pace prescreen on 11/6 and she’s still waiting. MTMommaJAA’s S submitted his prescreen yesterday and got a yes in under 4 hours.

D called Pace this afternoon and was told that if she didn’t hear in another week she should call back.

Amy Rogers did mention in a workshop Q & A that what she was looking for was looking for was boys (always, MT programs are always shy on boys). I’m sure she is swamped now, that’s what the person in the office told my D, but I’m sure she is reviewing prescreens as fast as she can.

Well we just got bad news from Pace. They said they cannot offer her an in-person audition. Its like a sign. Ever since we submitted the Pace application itself through the Common App, its been one problem after the next. They couldn’t find the app for about a week, then the transcripts were missing, now for the last week they can’t locate the teacher recommendations. One teacher even faxed one today and they said they don’t have it. I’m very disappointed as this was one of her top choices. It makes me very nervous now about the rest of the auditions. Its going to be a long next couple of months.

caymangirl38 - sorry to hear you this, it is all so tough. My S had one friend devastated over not getting through Penn State’s prescreen, another was cut at the last round last year. They were both very upset but they both ended up in great places. One is a Point Park the other is at CCM, they are both really happy with their programs. Best of luck to your D!

caymangirl38 – this process is brutal. I’m so sorry for you and your D. There’s still time to find other places that might be a good fit…and make sure you have a couple of non-audition safety schools lined up. There are so many wonderful programs out there. I wish you guys the best!

I am so incredibly nervous to send in my prescreen! It is obviously impossible to know what a school is looking for, but I think this is especially true with prescreen videos. As somebody said previously, it is tough to really get to know somebody as a performer. I know that I have to be confident in my abilities and what I have to offer, but I do hate the idea of prescreens because like most people I feel that I am better in person. It is always easier to see somebody’s personality in person. Because of this, I don’t know what adjudicators are looking for when they watch our prescreen videos.
