Has anyone heard any news recently? :)

Just seeing this topic made me get butterflies in my stomach.

DD just mailed her cd/dvd on Wed....Just in time to meet Dec 1st deadline....Glad that's over now we wait

D just sent the last of hers in to beat the "postmark by Dec. 1" deadline too!! Mannes said they should have theirs posted by Dec. 1. (gulp)

WHAT Mannes is posting today?!?!?!

They have not posted yet.......ARGH!!!!!

WAHHHH! this is very frustrating.

i wonder if admissions people know how much suffering and anxiety the cause...hahaha!

Mannes extended their deadline to Dec. 1. They will post by the end of the week.

Thank you bluepearl! I have other auditions that should be posted this weekend. The computer will be recieving a lot of attention...

awesome. thanks bluepearl!!!!!!!

How does the posting happen? Do you just get an email from the school letting you know you've passed the pre-screen?

DS got an email from every school (except one, that CALLED! We thought that was really nice) telling him he passed the pre-screenings. I can't believe that I am blanking out on when those notifications came in, but I think it was late Dec. for the Dec. 1 deadline schools.

When we went through this four years ago, none of the results from prescreen (strings) came until early/mid January, and we were told the screeners, used the holidays to hear the CD's. Have they promised earlier results now?

Only Mannes seems to have a place to post on the unified apps site. No other school has said anything about when we'd hear prescreening results, although I think some schools have said we'd be notified of the audition date a month or so prior.

Mannes is the only school-out of the pre screenings d had to send in-that said they would post it online. Others stated they will let us know a month prior to audioning, which is causing a little bit of a travel/scheduling delema for us!

Same here about the traveling situation...

I actually emailed Mannes last night to figure out when these things were going to be posted, and I heard back that they were going to inform us early to mid January. Nothing sooner.

The whole, "one month prior" is actually really unhelpful. Especially for people like me, who don't live near a larger city with lots of easy transportation...

agreed. one month prior is pretty much inadequate, considering the difficulty of scheduling multiple auditions and the expense of making travel arrangements.

we ran into that problem with McGill last year--no prescreenings but they did not schedule the exact day of auditions until 3 weeks before. They said giving us the range of days when they audition strings was adequate for making travel plans.

Why do all of the music schools have most of their auditions in February????!!! Or, maybe my d is the only one applying to several schools?? In just one week we will travel from Cleveland to Boston and then to Austin!!! And we need to get back by Friday so d does not miss two Saturday morning orchestra rehearsals in a row! That is only one week...other weeks we will travel to NYC for auditions. Are we crazy? Well, don't answer that.
We may have to resort to sending a recording to the two schools that will actually take them. What are her chances of gettng accepted with a recording? Older d is a musical theatre major. We were able to go to New York for a weekend for her to audition to 6 schools!! It seems for instrumentals it does not work that way. Oh well, we will make the most of it and enjoy every minute. I know that it goes by too quickly. :(

You have a spread out group of schools, but I am sure the effort will be worth it. We had all audtions up and down the Boston-New York corridor and it wasn't so bad. Still, having back to back auditions in a weekend or even on a single day is hard on the nerves!
