Pre-Screens- Has anyone heard?

It was through email, and I’d have to look to be sure, but it was a long time between submitting the request and getting the confirmation. Several weeks.

Congrats Kategrizz and Frazzled! Break a leg with your Ithaca auditions! D is going to the on campus one in 2 weeks so we’ll let you know how it goes.

My D received a time from Ball State, but it took over a month from the time she completed her application. The time she was given created a conflict so she contacted them and they were very accommodating. It took about a week to get the new time. This was all via e-mail and for Chicago Unifieds.

This just in - Elon has indicated that they’re going to prescreen next year.

This comes as no surprise…and didn’t I hear somewhere BW was moving towards that as well?

Yep BW will prescreen next year, I heard that at the parent meeting last week.

But Elon still doesn’t do Unifieds, right?

Oh, Rider is probably going to pre screen as well. Elon doesn’t go to unifieds, but they just might eventually.

Has everyone heard from Ithaca who’s booked a Feb slot? D signed up for a Feb Unifieds slot but hasn’t heard word yet…

kategrizz & frazzled35 - do you know when you submitted your prescreens? we are coming from very far away so we need to find out decisions now to schedule!

We are in the same boat. No word from Ithaca. Looking for a slot Unifieds LA-

ddBroadway2-I posted on the Ithaca Thread, but D submitted hers in mid-October…I know the wait is hard…hang in there!

The wait is even harder when the prescreen hasn’t been submitted yet! LOL! Maybe we can get it done today now that the prescreen has been filmed.

GSOMTMom - Move over, son in the same boat! Last performance of school play was last night. Attempted to upload a pre-screen between shows but was stopped in his tracks by a request for a mini-essay in addition to the pre-screen. He is writing today, but the University is on Thanksgiving break…I don’t think I’ll tell him, I’m a mean Mom :)

You’re not a mean mom entertainersmom, just realistic. These kids are super busy but the deadlines are closing in and audition slots are drying up so essays/prescreens have to be finished/submitted.
D has threatened to eliminate certain schools because she doesn’t want to spend hours writing all of their essays then I have to remind her that she is a girl (sorry, there are just WAY more MT girls auditioning than boys so more competition) and 15 schools is not really a lot to apply to if she truly wants MT. If not, then the state university up the road would be happy to have her without extra essays…
Thanksgiving is MY deadline because her HS musical will start rehearsals in December (could they pick a bunch of months MORE in the middle of audition season for the school musical to be rehearsed/performed?!) and then she truly will be too busy to finish applications so I’m a mean mom too!

FYI, my son is a MT freshman at Ithaca, and I have asked him to post about his freshman experience while he is home for Thanksgiving. He is very happy to be there, but is working extremely hard, and has absolutely no time for extracurriculars. He says the Acting majors have had much more time to do things like audition for student films.

Regarding the prescreens, he heard one of the dance teachers say that they can figure out within the first 30 seconds of the DVDs whether the applicants have had movement training or not.

ddBroadway2 - I had to check my spreadsheet. She submitted the Ithaca prescreen on 10/18/13 and requested a Chicago Unifieds audition date. I hope this is helpful!

S just submitted U Mich today, requested on campus 2/7 date . He hasn’t submitted Ithaca yet so, make room for me on the couch of haven’t submitted yet…no clue how we got behind. O I know life stepped in and screwed up my schedule as per usual.

Tx so much, both frazzled & kategrizz! I’ll keep checking. We submitted ours towards the end of October so I guess I shouldn’t be worried if they are looking at prescreens now in order of date of submission, which would make sense to me, but I still feel like we’ve been waiting FOREVER! They will submit some sort of a rejection if it’s a no, right?

Aww this process is so difficult!! Here is my D’s update.
And for the record I feel (or it appears) my daughter certainly is better in live prescreens than on video.
We have had 1 prescreen rejection, 3 live prescreen come to campus invitations plus NYU and Webster which dont prescreen.
so 5 more auditions in Jan/Feb.
D is waiting on 3 schools to see if she is invited on campus.
