Joining the prescreen discussion late but FWIW my S has heard back from 4 so far (all yes): Shenandoah - submitted 11/8, notified 11/13; Pace - ditto both dates; Penn State - submitted 11/13, notified 11/19; Ithaca - submitted 11/7, notified 11/26 (requested 2/1 on-campus audition date). Still waiting on Michigan (submitted 11/17) and Indiana (submitted 11/20). First audition this Sunday at Emerson!

Congrats on the passes!!! Hopefully the remaining decisions will come soon. Break a leg to your son at Emerson!

Has anyone heard from Ithaca who is going to be at LA Unifieds?
last school to hear from for D. She Applied back in Oct.

MaMTma: Just so you know when to expect answers on your last 2 schools: Michigan notifies on 2 dates. 11-15 for those who submitted by 10-15 and 12-23 for all else. Indiana is the last one we are waiting on as well, and based in last year’s threads It will still be a couple of weeks before they notify.

Thanks, kategrizz – I knew we wouldn’t hear back from Michigan until 12/23 – we missed the 11/15 deadline by 2 days! Just couldn’t get that last personal statement out in time.

CTownMom - thanks for the heads up and boo! LOL. I think BW and CCM are the only 2 he’ll hear from then before March.

Our D has already auditioned at Elon and Catawba, and she has auditions scheduled from13 other non-prescreen schools. We have submitted materials to 10 prescreen schools, and all of those within the past week. With Thanksgiving thrown in we know that it’s too early to expect a response, but I still check her email every 5 minutes while she’s at school. It will be a nice sign if she gets a few yes votes from the prescreens, if you know what I mean…

How do most of the responses arrive? Email, phone, snail mail? I get the impression that I also have to check the getacceptd and decisiondesk websites. Great, a few more things to worry about slipping through the cracks.

Oh, and a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to all who have received yes votes, and to the parents as well. It’s a team effort to be sure.

I am both encouraged and shocked that we are living parallel lives with so many people around the country.

Good luck to all!

cheeseheadmike - You bring up a good point. To everyone waiting on pre-screens, just be aware that Thanksgiving might have slowed things down a bit for some schools. I know at CCU we have quite a few pending on getacceptd that the faculty are reviewing as soon as possible, but MANY were received over the break so it’s taking us a little longer than it normally would to get back to applicants. I have a feeling there are at least a few other schools having this “problem” as well (at least it’s a good problem to have!).

cheeseheadmike, was that a typo, or did your D really apply to 25 schools? That is a LOT of schools. Probably unnecessary…

VeritasMT- Actually, it was 23 but who’s counting at this point? Every time we thought about the long odds it freaked us out, so we just kept firing off apps to hedge our bets. Of course the fees are getting out of control.

We just got word a few minutes ago that it was a “no” from TX State. Disappointing to me (based on cost), but D won’t be upset. She’s a rock. Mom is a bit freaked out and probably looking for even more schools to apply to.

We have some household controversy about D’s song choices, but it’s too late for the prescreens. Hopefully she’ll get a few “yes” votes in the next few weeks to settle Mom down.

My D passed the Florida State Prescreen, sent in 11/30 and received 12/3

Cheeseheadmike; 19 for us but who’s counting? Sent in two more today. HA!

Son finally sent his last two of the three pre-screens out on Sunday. Otterbein spoiled us with the quick reply, so now he waits.

Thanks for the heads up AlexaMT about the inevitable slowdown due to the holiday. I would imagine there were other students like my son who didn’t have a spare minute until the Thanksgiving break to put the pre-screens together and send them off.

Hi!
I’m new to College Confidential but I have been reading up on all of these Musical Theatre schools on here. I have sent in pre-screens for FSU, Penn State, U Mich, and Ithaca, and I passed FSU, Ithaca, and Penn State, but I have yet to hear from Michigan! I submitted my pre-screen videos the 6th of November and I am starting to worry! Should I hear soon? Thanks!

Hi! MusicalTheatreE I think if you sent your prescreen after 10/15 you will hear by 12/23.

Be SURE to check the Acceptd site for responses to prescreens, even if schools say they will notify you by email. Last year we thought D’s prescreen had not gotten to TX State, because there was no email one way or the other long after we should have heard. Turns out they had sent a response through Acceptd with a link to schedule her audition, but we hadn’t checked the website. Luckily we were still able to get it scheduled at Unifieds, but be sure to check! And good luck to all of you. Hard to believe it was just a year ago that we were in the midst of all of this craziness!

The Daughter passed a live prescreen for Otterbein! She is utterly shocked as she didn’t think the audition was her best one that day. So this definitely supports the “ya just never know” theory that we read about often on this forum.

Congrats to GSOMTMom D!!

Yes you never know. My son did not pass the live prescreen for Otterbein. He felt it was a good audition for him. Let the disappointment begin…

UGH!! SEE?!! Ya just never know! Sorry your son didn’t pass.
