I just heard back from Michigan yesterday and it’s a yes for the February Chicago Unifieds! All I’m waiting on now is Illinois Wesleyan and then decisions from Northwestern and NYU.

Cellomom51, you are right and I am a classical violinist. I didn’t know this page was just for theatre majors. Is there one for classical majors?
AS a matter of fact, I just graduated from UMich with my Master’s, and I remember the theatre dept there being Awesome. I had one of my degree recitals at the Stamps Auditorium located in the theatre building, and it was so fun to see the future actors and actresses being extremely energetic all the time. UofM SMTD is GREAT, and I would highly recommend the school to anyone. Also, the level of classes in general are extremely high since the university itself tends to draw lots of smart kids.

D unfortunately got a “no” from mich on Friday. That was upsetting as it was at the top of her list but time to move forward. Still waiting on IU but we are beginning of alphabet so there goes your theory :). We had 5 pre screen yeses but now penn state is out ( they let u know at audition). Just hoping for a YES so that we can BREATHE! Deferred from Emerson. This is a tuff road!!

The MI no last year hurt me worse then it hurt S. D started grad school in Ann Arbor this fall and I just wanted to have two children in the same state. Is that too much to ask? They’re not far though (BW and Ann Arbor) and this fall we had a mini-reunion at MI to see their A Little Night Music and visit.

Aychoi84-- yes, there is a Music Majors forum. You can find it listed under College Majors.

Good luck with your pre-screens!

Bwaybabie - did your D also audition for Montclair in November?

Bwaybabie -

So sorry to hear about Michigan. My thinking is that everything happens for a reason. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be for the D. Anxiously awaiting IU still! Don’t lose hope for Emerson! I did EA last year and in the matter of a month I went Deferred → Waitlist → Accepted. I’m sending good thoughts your way!

Hello all! Has anyone heard from PSU on pre-screens? We are almost at 2 weeks now. This is all new to us, so this website is a lifesaver!

Pittmom2014 -

I heard in about 3 day. I submitted in mid Nov.
You should hear fairly soon!

Do they email/mail/call? I wonder if they respond even if it’s a NO?

They let everyone know by email, whether it is a yes or no. Have you applied to the university?

Yes, my D did. They have all of her paperwork. Just uploaded pre-screen on 12/3. She is more patient than me!

I’d give it a couple more days and then I’d suggest calling the theatre office?

mtmusic, may I ask where you are transferring from? Are you at Emerson?

My S heard from PSU (it was a yes) 5 days after submitting his prescreen in mid-November.

Mt mama. No. We were at muhlenberg, Emerson, elon and Emerson in November

Thanks for the kind words and positive thoughts. Great to hear about Emerson! Hoping for a yes from IU. Still haven’t heard. Also looking towArd the other fabulous schools she will be auditioning for (Ithaca, FSU, Syracuse, ccm, Miami, JMU and ucla plus a couple more. Hopefully she will end up where she was destined to be and will b happy and successfull. I just can’t take the stress!!

D just got an audition at IU!!

Woot Woot! Great to hear bwaybabie!

As much as I believe that these pre-screens are a good idea, I can see how they add yet another layer of stress and uncertainty in this already very stressful process. Hang in there, folks!
