well i am curious as I got a B in my Precal and in Calculus 1 i got an A , so the thing which i am curious about is will the UCs disregard the B which i got in precal?

btw

beers on me this weekend as i got an A in calculus ( just came to knw abt it now ) lol

I do not believe Pre-Calc is even transferable. I checked on assist using my college and a couple of the UC’s. None of them showed Pre-Calc as transferable.

Congrats!

If precalc is not UC transferable, it won’t count on your GPA. If it is, it will count on your GPA… simple as that. No matter what, the A in Calc 1 will overshadow your B in precalc.

The thread proves absolutely nothing. If you had done 3 seconds of investigating you would have realized she was applying as a high school student. As far as a transfer is concerned, I would imagine if Pre-Calc is not transferable, as per assist, it would not be included in the UC transferable gpa. Thus, it would not matter much for acceptance. I’m not a admissions officer though. That is just what I would think—especially because he got an A in the UC transferable course (Calc 1).

yes , my bad . The girl was applying from a high school , I am sorry.

Okay so i just looked at the catalog of la valley college http://www.lavc.edu/fall09/lavcfall09_070709.pdf and searched for pre-calculus in the pdf file , it says that it is uc and csu transferrable

anyway even if it is, the A in calc overshadows the B in precalc right? as it harder than precal

Pre-Cal is definitely a transferable class. It showed up on my DPR (for unit credit) for UCLA and it was factored into my transferable GPA.

Pre-calc IS a transferable class. A B in pre-calc will affect your transferable GPA.

What do you mean by “overshadow”? Since Pre-calc and Calc 1 are entirely different courses, an A in Calc 1 won’t just erase your grade from Pre-calc. I also got a B in Pre-calc and an A in Calc 1, and both courses show up on my DPR.

depends on where you apply. if calc is important for your major then its good, but if your major is competitive, then the b in precalc won’t help. the A in calc won’t cancel the b in precalc. following your logic, then the people who only took calc and got an A and didn’t take precalc should be in better standing then you right?

Yes, Pre-Calc is transferable. My bad. It is covered under the Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning portion of IGETC.
