Precalc Dilemma!

Hey guys! I am currently a sophomore in high school and in advanced algebra 2. I really want to skip to calc ab next year, so i decided to do a summer course for precalc. However... the course is only ONE month long. Its from mid june to mid july, but im scared. Will i struggle a lot in calculus by having a meager one month experience? Or will i be okay if i practice it a lot during the remaining months? I really don't want to fail calc and kill my gpa... All advice/thoughts are welcome!! Thanks so much :)

Are you good at math? Like are you easily making A’s right now? If so, go for it, you’ll probably be successful. If not, you may want to hold off on Calculus.

You’ll do fine, if you’re really nervous buy a book on calculus and read that too.

What course are you taking?

Yeah im pretty good at math… algebra 2 was a breeze for me last semester. We just started trig now and thats going really well too

Is precalc just a review of algebra 2 & trig with some calculus concepts? or is the material entirely new??

thanks for replying!!!

It’s just a review with trig. Near the end you start learning some Calculus concepts like limits and derivatives.

When you say skip calc ab, do you mean that you intend to take calc bc next year? If that’s what you meant, depending on your calc experience, it could be pretty difficult to grasp.

No i meant i wanted to skip precalc TO calc ab; so i’ll be taking calc as a junior.

Oh and another thing, i just rechecked the course schedule, and there’s precalc 1 and precalc 2. They’re both offered at the same time… So for example, if my precalc 1 class is from 8-9:30, my precalc 2 class will be from 9:30-11, and so on. Does that make sense…? Will it impact how I learn a lot?
