I thought precalc was very useful. We go straight into Calc BC here, because there is no AB class at my school. I know I wouldn't have been prepared for Calculus BC right after Algebra II/Trig.

Calculus BC has so few additional topics that it's almost pointless to only take AB.

^ very true but the point is that I think Precalc did a good job of preparing me for calc. It's definitely not necessary to take Pre-calc but I found it useful.

haha NO! I took enriched pre-calc and it ate me alive, seriously it is very hard. It scared me away from AP calc, I am just gonna take regular calc next year. I did very well in enriched Algebra II, but pre-calc sucked.

Our school has no regular calc. It's either AP calc or other obscure courses like discrete math /statistic

Precalc is as easy as Geometry and Alg 2... there are not a lot of hard concepts and a lot of calculator-punching. Although my teacher is kind of batty so my avg is 92-93 this year instead of 95.

AMC on the other hand...bleh. Those classes do nothing for it.

At my school, precalc was mostly trig. There was a bit of finishing up algebra ii (with logarithmic graphs and what not), but the meat of the course was trigonometry. Is this not the same at other schools? Do you have trigonometry as a separate class? And if so, what purpose serves precalc?

Pre-Calc and Algebra II overlap a ton, IMO....I haven't learned a single new thing in precalc so far, but there are a few new things coming up. Go through a textbook and learn that stuff; if you're good it math it's probably fine. Like other people said, it's the trig stuff.

Precalculus is mostly a waste of time. So long as you know trig, exponents/logs, and have a solid understanding of algebra, you'll be fine.

D made her first C ever in honors precalc, and worked hard. Depends on the precalc at your school and the teacher.
