is the jump from precalculus to ap calculus bc too big or do you think it's doable?

It's doable. Many people do it.

guess teachers just love to tell you that you can't do it then, at least at my school...

I did it. Then again, I got a B in both precalc (got like a 92.3 and a 92.4 and an A is a 92.5) and in BC Calc (much lower B, around 85-86, and an 84.5 is a B).

it shouldn't be too hard if you're good at math.

I self studied BC after precalc. Pretty simple. i think precalc was harder.

Almost everyone (on an Honors track) does it at my school =)

I would recommend it. It's better than doing what I did, which was precalc to AB calc (easy A and 5) to BC calc for a full year, which was AP Sleep until the last two weeks where I did review books. Now I feel like I've stifled my mathematics growth.

I think it depends on the school. Many, many people at my school go from precalculus to AP Calc BC...it's a normal thing to do. Some people go to Calc AB. I went from precalc to AP Calc BC and did better in Calc BC, actually.

My school doesn't offer BC, but for how long I"ve been on this site, I can tell you it's a normal thing to go from precalc to BC. The 1st semester is Calc AB if I'm not mistaken.

thats what you are suppose to do at my school
but my school precalc class have intro to limits derivatives and all the fun coordinates

me and a couple of my friends skipped precalc completely and still got A+ in calc bc and 5 on AP test.. but then we are math nerds

most people in my school do well though

Well our school divides Pre-Calc into IB Pre-Calc (more Units) and IB Math Studies (less Units...duh). People's grades in IB AAF (Similar to Algebra 2, except more indepth) decide their tracks (anyone with over a 85% can take IB Pre-Calc). Pre-Calc kids choose BC Calc (or AB Calc) and Math Studies kids choose AB Calc (I think that's their only option).

So...doable.
