When I was in sixth grade a test was offered to skip a math, but I was switching around schools at that time so I didn’t have a chance to take it. I am currently a sophomore taking Algebra 2 HN which is still 1 math ahead although some sophomores at my school are taking precalc. Would it be worth it to take precalc over the summer this year in order to take AP Calc? Keep in mind that I am aiming for ivy, met, cit, etc.
I would only take pre-calc over the summer if you are sure it is the full class, honors, and a good teacher. I would not take it as an online class if you aren’t 100% sure it will be a good experience. The vast majority of people applying to these schools will be taking AP Calc their senior year so you aren’t really going to be behind. Besides getting into these schools you want to be successful there so having a high quality background where you come from a place of confidence in your abilities is important.
