Precalculus freshman year

I am a Civil engineering major, I took Precalculus my senior year of high school. I was placed in Calc I, but my college gave incoming freshman including myself a placement test. Unfortunately I didn't take it as seriously as I should have, and I scored lower on the Trig section (which I took my Junior year of HS), and got about a 70% on the Calc section. Therefore I was placed in Precalc. Is College Precalc typically a one-semester long course? In additon is there a way I can attempt to enter Calc I?

Precalc in college is usually 4 to 5 units and yes, it’s a semester long course. If you have your class schedule it should be evident. There’s usually a wait period before you can take another placement test i think. You’ll have to figure out if the timing is viable between retaking and the first day of classes.

Unfortunately, this may delay your graduation by a semester, since calculus 1 begins long sequences of prerequisites for your major. The delay may be a whole year if some of the courses in the sequences are offered only once per year. But you may want to go through the degree requirements to see if there is any way to plan your schedule to avoid needing an extra semester.

Alright, thanks for the advice. Since I posted that I’m enrolled and have the curriculum outline. It appears everything will work out fine.
