Precalculus vs. Calculus

I'm going to be taking algebra II as a junior next year so I'll have no choice but to graduate with precalculus instead of calculus. Will this be detrimental to my chances at a school like Boston University or even lower my chances at all? If so, will AP Statistics make up for my lack of calculus?

You are enrolled in the normal (rather than an accelerated) math sequence. Do not worry about this. Concentrate on getting good grades in Algebra II and Precalculus. Calculus can wait for when you get to college - and depending on your major, you may never need to take it at all!

Calculus in high school is not required, unless you want to go to Caltech, Harvey Mudd, or engineering at WUStL (maybe a very few others).
