post some comments in here before decision day. Which is??????? Also, what is the deal with the envelope, business, 9'' X 12''. Thick? thin? what's up with the ED envelope any word from last years kids?

apparently thick: accepted, thin: deferred/rejected as i hear.

i 'closed off' the other ed decision thread for the time being :)

So is the date definitely the 10th? (For NJ/NY Princeton applicants) or is it the 12th?

Last year, Jerseyans got them the 11th, so this year it should be the 12th, though I'll definitely be camped out by my mailbox on the 10th. But I'm neurotic.

Gosh I would hate it if it were the 12th! Getting through that last weekend...

Same here Shu, I was not anticipating response until the 14th or 15th, that cuts the time down significantly, but I know it will be ultimate deferral. Anyway so Two Weeks?? Wow, can't wait so I can send my other college apps out, enough of my overabundant optimism.

It's ok mach, only 2 weeks. So when did y'all send your prin apps? I completed and sent mine on October 11th

11:00 PM on Nov 1...I'm not so good at budgeting my time....

there are internationals like me who wil b just starting to go crazy in either joy or depression when you americans have already calmed down from the shock (either way:p)

i'm expecting my deferral letter around 15th onwards

SATs? Confident? I don't exactly think my 1450 is my ticket to paradise.

So can anyone guess the number of charlatans and pretenders/ Beautiful Mind kool aid drinkers are applying to Princeton. They must beef up the rejection number in total correct?

I hope there are ALOT of those or else my chances look slim... :/

I do not know if you are correct, but I certainly hope you are, GrkPrincetonian. If only they released acceptance rates for "qualified" students

Then most of us would be SCREWED. Supposedly, almost 50% of applicants don't have the qualified "basic" stats, but Im not sure how accurate that is...

What if we could find the percentage for qualified ED students? If starry's comment is correct, then I have almost even odds of making it :)

yay 100th post

Unfortunately, though, if you look at last year's ED results, seems a lot tougher than 50/50 to make it (to say the least...). I'd assume the pool has ~75-85% "basic" candidates...candidates that have what Pton would consider prerequisites.

Also, remember that ED admission rate, while higher, also reflects the higher acceptance for legacies (a lot of whom will apply ED), recruited athletes, and URMs (universities always try to get as many URMs as they can when matriculation is binding).

So for non URM, non legacy, non recruited athletes (like yours truly), we're competing against a far more select group. And I think we underestimate the size and strength of that group.

Except that (speaking statistically) URMs are much less likely to apply early, and legacies and athletes tend to have comparably weak numbers.
Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to keep my false hope alive.

Same. I am Asian Indian, so I suppose I'm on the wrong end of the minority scale. Hopefully my app will pull me through

We are in exactly the same boat, my friend.

Seriously, does anyone know how many of the ED applicants are clearly NOT qualified? Would you guys say almost half?
