I am interested into the following schools….

Barnard College (ED?):
Boston College:
UChicago(EA):
UC Berkeley:
Cornell(ED?):
Duke(ED?):
Hopkins(ED?):
Georgetown(EA?):
Tufts:
Rice:
Vanderbilt (ED?):
UMich(EA):
NYU:
Northeastern:

Please predict me at the above schools.

My intended major is Pre-Law (Political Science or History)

I am interested into all of those schools, which one should I apply ED to? I want to apply ED to the school that I have the best chance at.

Thank you!

bump

Your extracurricular activities are amazing, and will definitely make you stand out in the applicant pool. I really do advise that you don’t apply ED to any of these schools, especially since you’re unsure which school you actually want to apply ED to. They’re all very prestigious universities with low acceptance rates, so you want to keep your options open.

Your senior schedule is great. ACT is good, but not remarkable. GPA looks great.

With that in mind, even with all of your credentials, none of these schools can really be considered to be “safeties” for you. I’d personally say that UMich, Boston College, and NYU should be matches, but none of the colleges you’re applying to are really out of your reach. I’d say apply with an open mind to all of these schools. While you’re not going to get in everywhere, I think you’ll be surprised by how many acceptance letters you actually receive.

The real question you should be asking, though, is if you can afford these schools. With a list of schools like the one you have, I think that the financial aid package will play a huge part in making your final decision. Keeping that in mind, its best you don’t apply ED, as you could receive big money from a college that you may not have seriously considered before.

Good luck, keep us updated on your results. ^^

You have a great resume, but I suggest that you consider where you want to be, and what appeals to you about these particular schools. When I look at your list, there are several “reach” schools I would probably cut, because they seem incongruous with the rest of the list. I would probably eliminate Duke and Cornell. Duke is just so selective; if you aren’t certain that it’s your first choice, then it probably shouldn’t be. Most of your selections are in metropolitan areas, but Cornell is not. I’d be inclined to add USC, BU, GWU, and Tulane, along with a public safety. They are all low-matches, and you might get a substantial merit aid package. I’m a Barnard alumna, and so I’m prejudiced in favor of applying there ED, but don’t do so unless you know you want to go there. I think Barnard, Chicago, Hopkins, or Georgetown would be a good #1 pick for you.

@minohi thanks for advice! I am also applying to my local state school as a safety. My thoughts about ED is that I want to apply for a top tier school that I might not get into RD (IDK if thats right mind set). If the school can offer at least 1/3 of its tuition in financial aid, I would be good.

I know I don’t have the top ACT scores but I really struggle with math standardized testing. I consider it pretty much a miracle that I got a 31 C. IDK if I should take it again, I know higher scores would help but IDK if I will get better than a 31 or even match it.

@woogzmama thanks for the advice! I probably won’t be applying to Duke, it is very selective and they have higher standardized testing scores. I would like to take the ACTs again but I am not sure if I’ll be able to score higher than a 31, heck I think I was SO lucky to even get a 31 considering the highest I have even gotten on my practice tests was 30. I really struggle with standardized testing. For the SAT, I got a 1790. For the PSAT, I got a 1760. I took the ACT the for the first time in April last year and I got a 25 (23,26,24,25). One of the reasons is probably self confidence, I never took geometry before so the Math section itself scares me before I even start.

Barnard is a great school, I really like the campus and everything. I like that small school feel with the resources of a big research institution. My main problem with Barnard is that I don’t know if I want to go to a school that is famous/one of the best things about it is its affliction with another school.

With Cornell, I like NY schools because thats where I am from (I like two hour from the city).

I do like USC though, thank you.

bump

bump

wow, your resume looks amazing! i feel like getting in any of the colleges you mentioned shouldn’t be a problem; and i am sure that you will be very successful in your future endeavors beyond college.
however, you listed that your unweighted gpa is 4.24- is that your weighted gpa? because the highest unweighted gpa possible is a 4.0.
for uc berkeley, they will be looking at your unweighted gpa.

@greenpterodatcly yes, it is weighted. I made a typo.

You are amazing. it looks as if your resume can’t even be real. Bravo for an outstanding 4 years of academic achievement!

Also pls chance me for tufts :)

@premedprincess13 I believe I already did.

Post your real unweighted GPA. Depending on your unweighted GPA, a school that may appear to be a safety can turn into a reach.

@mangiafuoco my school only has weighted. The GPA I posted (4.24) is weighted.

If it helps, I have only gotten two B and one B+ and they were all in IB/Honor classes. The rest of my transcript are all A or A+ with one A-.

You have very good chances at those schools.
