Lol. I definitely bombed both speaking sections of the French exam and the other sections didn’t go well either. It really annoys me because I did really well on the practice test we took in my class (highest in my class and my teacher said it would definitely be a 5) and then I took the real exam and did horribly on every single part. On the phone conversation, especially, I was borderline incoherent. I’ll be completely happy if I get a 3, and completely overjoyed if I get a 4 or 5.

Actually, after seeing the score distributions for World History, I probably got a 2, maybe a 3. Apparently the essays were the worst ever. Oops.

Chemistry - 4
World - 3, 4 if the curve is generous. I only wrote a thesis for one of the essays and moved on…
Language and Composition - 4/5, depending on the essays again.

Bio 5
Lit 3 or 4
Apush 4 or 5
French 3

Chem- 3-4

I thought AP tests were gonna be all easy and I’d get straight 5s.
I’m still hoping for that, but I have a terrible feeling I might get a 4 in AP Lang. The worst part is that I 100% don’t deserve it because I got straight 8/9s all year and am a very, very good writer.

Also, the AP bio curve?! 5% got 5s! I’d better be one of them…

Bio: 5
APUSH: 5

APUSH: 5

There is NO curve for AP scoring, contrary to popular belief. Stop thinking that. It sends false hopes.

@myraven11 Sure, there are. It’s just called “score setting” <a href=“Get the Most Out of AP – AP Students | College Board”>Get the Most Out of AP – AP Students | College Board;

imo, curving implies shaping the scores to a desired distribution. That’s not what AP does.

Confident with my APUSH. Think I’m in that 10% that got the 5. If not, I’m not heartbroken. 4 at worst.

AP French. Likely in that hefty 35% that got a 3. Would be PLEASANTLY surprised with a 4.

AP Psych: 3 or 4
AP English Lang: 2 3 or 4
APUSH: 2 3 or 4

No 5s for me most likely, English lang I bombed the analysis, apush I just have no idea (usually got 6s on essays in class), psych is the only one I’m thinking I for sure passed on, but I always under estimate myself so hopefully I passed them all!

If you are mad about bio, it’s not because CB screwed up, its because colleges have become tougher on biology courses, and it takes more effort to get an A, corresponding to less people getting 5’s.

Suppose one year all whole bunch of geniuses took the Calc AB test (5 cutoff is around 67-69/108) and these 100 thousand geniuses all score 90+/108. If you are the one of the few who isn’t as good as those geniuses and scores a 72/108. You still have a 5. They aren’t going to do anything to the cutoff score. This also works in reverse.

Don’t worry, I remember my teacher telling me that CB pays millions of dollars to a psychometric firm to determine all these curves and cutoff scores. They do a lot to make sure that your score is truly what you should earned. They drop questions if they think its biased, if too many white people get the question wrong, they drop it. If too many girls get it wrong, they drop it. If they see an abnormally large amount of people choose the same wrong answer, they drop it.

IMO, I think criteria based cutoff scores is probably better than basing it of curves most of the time.
