My DD scored a 20 ACT composite in 7th grade with a 21 in stem and then in the 97th percentile on the PSAT 8/9. Was wondering if people on this board saw percentiles stay consistent as their kids progressed or if any of you saw percentiles go down when they got ACT and SAT scores?
There is so much that can change in a kid between 7th and 11th grade. I suspect you’ll see some increased percentages, some decreased. I’ve read of some who stay high, and some who go down. Mine went down.
What track of math is she on? Some kids like mine who get on advanced math tracks without getting a solid basis in the fundamentals actually have a very tough time on the math portion of the standardized tests, even while getting A’s in advanced AP math classes.
The only real way to know is to take a practice test. There are free online tests. All you need is a printer, a watch and a few quiet hours on a Saturday morning.
Thank you for your reply. She is a rising sophomore and just finished honors geometry will be taking honors algebra 2. We were offered to skip 7th grade math after 6th but chose not to. She is a stellar math student. Very high A’s all year in honors geometry and algebra. I’m going to have her take a practice test. Great idea!
