Predictions for a transfer from california

I'm coming out of a community college and I'm waiting for responses from some California schools. I'm a phil major with a 3.1/3.2 and I'm hoping to go to UCLA. I taught english in Bangladesh over the summer, edited the school paper, was in a program where I tutored a foreign exchange student, work at the red cross and was part of a few clubs. I know this is a stretch but I feel like I'm on the edge so I was hoping someone could give me a response. I have one more quarter in the spring and I'll have to submit those grades before I get a response in April. I could potentially raise my gpa to a 3.3/3.4 but I don't if they'll decide on my fate before or after my spring classes end.

I don't mean to be annoying, but I'd really appreciate it if I could get a response.

.........bump....

buuuuuuuuuumpp

You'd get more responses if you posted this in the transfers forum; you might also try the general UC forum.

I'm no expert on CC transfers to UCLA, but with a 3.1 CC GPA, your chances might not be high.

Thanks Mr. David... :(

Average successful CC transfer to UCLA last year had a 3.66 GPA.

3.1 to 3.2 generally is good enough for UCSC, and sometimes UCI/UCSB/UCD.

The exception would be if you are applying for the nursing program. As a 3.3/3.4 GPA and a philosophy major you would have some chance--although I think UCI/UCD/UCSB or even UCSD would be far more likely to give you acceptances than UCLA.

Good luck.
