Just wondering if anyone's teachers have made predictions for what this year's apush dbq will be be. Mine suggested the Market Revolution. Obviously, I'm going to study everything, but it's fun to hear predictions!

Well my teacher says anything is fair game, but College Board tends to choose fairly different topics each year, trying to space out the topics covered from year to year. The Vietnam War question last year likely indicates something from colonial or revolutionary times this year.

^That’s what my teacher said too…and I trust him 100%.

My teacher was saying that if an essay topic was covered in Form B (West Coast) the previous year and hasn’t shown up on any recent regular form APUSH exams, it is very likely that this year one of our essays or the DBQ will be on a topic very similar to ones on last year’s Form B. I don’t know how true that is but it does help to highlight some topics to focus on!

^ Form B is actually the overseas test if I’m not mistaken - West and East coasts have the exact same tests.

FWIW the DBQ on last year’s Form B was about “new immigrants” from 1880 to WWI or so.

just wondering, has there ever been a cartoon DBQ? i’m a freshman btw i’m taking APUSH next year in my sophomore year of high school :D

There is usually some type of graphic, mostly cartoons, on the DBQ.

Apparently there hasn’t been a formal Progressive Era DBQ for about 25 years.

So my teacher’s banking on that.

How about something radical? Cold War?

the dbq topic was vietnam last year. my ap english teacher called that actually. it had been a while since vietnam was done. Definitely consider cold war stuff. Then again, you dont want to be surprised come test day. The best thing would be know to everything…

^ The 2003 B test had a DBQ on Progressivism.

Im so lucky the DBQ was on vietnam. The last assignment of the year for APUSH was on the vietnam war, and it was one of the few i actually tried on, so i knew every last detail on it. I left like 18 MC blank, completely bombed the 2 essays, then OWNED the DBQ and passed with a 3 haha

My teacher last year had some amazing sources and intuition. Posted up a list of about 5topics, the first being Vietnam War. And he was right. I pretty much jumped out of my seat when I opened my test book.

As for this year, I agree with jennieblue. In any case, even if the DBQ isn’t on colonial/revolutionary times, I’d still review that thoroughly. One of our FRQ topics was about that period.

My teacher is guessing its either on the progressive era or early cold war.

A DBQ on Progressivism would be NICE.

I took the test last year, and the Vietnam DBQ was really really easy. That being said, I think the progressive movement is a pretty good guess on the part of teachers. That would definitely be different. Watching out for revolutionary times would probably also be smart as it is a popular FRQ topic.

Fingers crossed that it’s in the 20th century. I just don’t want a colonial/Revolutionary War-era one.

Progressives sounds possible, but it will not be Cold War- way too close time frame to vietnam which was last year.

bumping this thread- any new thoughts? It would greatly help those of us who are studying alone. Has there been anything about the war of 1812/ split party or the jackson age recently?

check collegeboard.com to see all the previous frq from 1999 on. we should be able to narrow it down.
