I realize there isn't much longer to wait before this is a known number, but I am curious as to what the long-timers on this forum are predicting the Class of 2018's yield to be.

It may very well be higher than Harvard’s this year. If not, the yield/admit ratio will easily be higher.

will cross 80% and should be higher than harvards considering 9 out 10 friends of mine who have been accepted to stanford are going for sure

There is someone who understands statistical analysis!

Any idea when the official word will be out? I’m pretty prideful, but it would be awfully “cool” to have the lowest acceptance rate AND the highest yield!

Last year they announced yield mid-May.

My analysis is 80.1432.

And by analysis, I mean total guess.

Doubt it will be higher than Harvard’s. Harvard accepted a ton of people whose first choice was Harvard. You can also just look at the size of the Facebook groups for each.

That isn’t accurate. Many (including myself) haven’t yet left the groups for schools they turned down.

@hopefullyhopeles is correct. FYI. Many who get into Stanford DO NOT even bother to join the Facebook group because they prize their PRIVACY (and don’t have a desire or need to humble-brag)…to this date, our K2 has not joined…heard of SNAPCHAT? And for present and future Stanford students…you may be interested to know Stanford is instituting a Private Social Network for its students, faculty, staff, and alumni…to protect their privacy, emails, research, data, and security…<a href=“The Re-Emergence of the Private Social Network”>http://www.forbes.com/sites/gretchenfox/2014/04/09/the-re-emergence-of-the-private-social-network/

admission office said yield was around their expected yield
idk what the figures are though

Just checked last year’ dates: the yield was officially announced on the 6th of May. So I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.

Actually @perseverence Stanford will not release their yield until next week. They have released their numbers on May 14 for the past two years. They usually like to release the numbers AFTER the northeast schools release their numbers…

…H will release numbers this week (within days) if tradition holds…

Oh sorry @gravitas2. And thank you for the correction. I just consulted some data sheet about the class of 2017 which included their yield, and at the bottom it said something like “this is based on information available on May 6”. So I assumed that was the date.

what are your predictions tho?

@FUnderwood
did you call the admissions office? and they said that it was around their expected yield? no chance for waitlist then

@johnkim614 my friend is a stanford grad student n works in the undegrad admissions office. he refused to divulge the exact figures but said the yield was around the expected.

@FUnderwood

Oh nice. Would you please ask him if he can tell you if the even plan to use the waitlist at all? Even 10-20 people?

Thank you! I’m dying to know.

@johnkim614 he says its confidential until the stats have been released publicly and thus he cant tell me
not much help really but tbh dont have your hopes up high because the chance of them using th waitlist seems to be pretty low

Princeton penn etc have released their yields

Many ivy leagues have released their yields
