<p>time for my reasons</p>

<p>20-50-30 (a/d/r)</p>

<p>accepted:
1) good sats + sat II's, 1510 / (800/750/740)
2) unique essays, come on 26e, how many people wrote about, or even know about what i talked about
3) serious commitment to clubs 10 years of violin, pres of debate, pres of chem club/team</p>

<p>rejected
1) i'm asian
2) from jersey
3) i'm a guy applying to engineering
4) gpa was weak sauce
5) rank was unreleased, so all they see is gpa
6) did i mention i'm asian
7) i'm not good at writing (670 sat I)</p>

<p>Accepted:
(1) I'm from the South
(2) I've got good leadership EC's
(3) Good essays & awesome recs</p>

<p>Rejected:
(1) Average ACT & Below Average SAT in reading and writing
(2) Class rank is in top 10 but barely (my school is really competitive though)
(3) I'm a southern boy trying to get into an Ivy League School (that sums them all up!)</p>

<p>I'm still hopeful though....</p>

2) Serious commitment to piano (11 years, sent in tape)

4) Overcoming adversity....moving from a different country, moving to three different high schools
5) I though my essays were great, as did the people who read them, but we could all be WRONG</p>

1) I go to a well reputated private school (one of the best in the nation)
2) Excellent EC's including many leadership positions--> and i added all that to create a really good essay.
3) Geographic Location (though there's a sudden increase in the number of ppl from my school applying this year :( )</p>

1) Total of 5 other ED applicants from my small school
2) poor SAT scores
3) I am an Asian male...uh yeah...
4) They don't like me?</p>

<p>cujoe169: I barely am in the second decile at my school in terms of GPA, fortunately my school doesn't rank. However, in the sheet they send to schools instead of the secondary school report, they do say that 15 / 75 kids have GPAs between 3.76-4.0, and as my GPA is a 3.78, they can probably estimate my rank :( Slightly worried about that, hope the school's rep will counterbalance that..</p>
