Predictions

spazallan- don't worry about the interview. it sounds like you have a lot of unique things going for you. also, it is probably too late for an interview anyway, so that's most likely why she hasn't called. i'm assuming it's the same person i had, and she was very nice but really stressed that the interview is not important.

deferred- 59%
rejected- 33%
accepted- 8%

Do you guys think that my SAT score of 1750 will totally ruin my chances of getting into Wharton? I mean I've done college summer courses at Yale and NYU and my academic grades are good

bkb524 - You'd probably need to have to have some very big hooks apart from that. . .

Yeah, well I think if i get in it'd be because my uncle use to be the head of the Dentistry School at Penn for 30 years.

and you live in peru....another BIG hook

gawd... this really doesnt belong here, but whatever. 4 out of 5 applicants from my school just got into dartmouth ed. it's going to be even more annoying (the shame, THE SHAME) when i get rejected/deferred...

bkb524... ummmm.... what was the distribution of scores? if you did really, really well on math and not as well on english/reading it might be fine...

w/e im prepared. deferral here i come

ok... when kids say not much leadership, what does that mean? no officer positions? because it seems that on cc, some people say they have no leadership when they're president of 3 clubs, and that's ridicuouls

yeah i mean i have a position in one club that is low and not really much. im not one of the people you are talking about cujoe

of course not, jersey born sensibility...

How do people decide how good their teacher recommendations were? I wasn't allowed to read mine but I had teachers that I have a good relationship with write them. Wouldn't everyone do that? What would be the difference between a great rec, good rec, and okay rec?

Basically, you have: the extent the teacher knows you, the ability of the teacher to write recommendations, the effort the teacher takes in writing the recommendation, and of course the teacher's impression on you. So if you have all four, then its an excellent rec. If only three (eg. your math teacher can't write well), than probably a good rec.

What if I had my French teacher write it? I guess she would have had her husband read it over afterwards and he's American so he'd notice most mistakes.

my SAT II scores will get me deferred/rejected i know! :(

aaron- how bad are your sat ii scores?? hopefully you dont mean 790s..

700 maths iic and i'm applying to SEAS! tht's like 56th percentile!
