Predictions

Lol, people with 30 kids applying ED to Penn at their schools...there are 3 people applying to Princeton from my STATE. The number of applicants Alabama has to Penn probably equals the number of acceptances to Penn at your school.

Chances: 40 (accepted) / 50 (deferred) / 10 (rejected)

My GPA is a 4.355, and I'm taking 5 APs this year alone.

My ECs are a little unusual.

I like my essay.

My SAT isn't as good as it could be (690 V, 740 M, 740 W)

I don't play ANY sports.

I didn't like my short answers on the application.

Chances: 5 (accepted)/ 60 (deferred) / 35 (rejected)

Good Gpa with over 14 AP classes after graduation (5 on 90% of them, 4 on rest)

Sat-2300

Lots of community service

Not Urm

White middle class male

no legacy

no sports

No mitigating circumstances to make up for these faults

Bad short answers

Whoever is doing the statistics thing: We should have predictions vs. actual to see if every1 is being too optomistic...just like in Vegas, everyone thinks they will win

lol has anyone gone above 50% yet?

Stop with these ridiculous chances people, lol 14 AP classes 2300 with good ECs = 5%

hahahhaa "no mitigating circumstances to make up for..." URM, being white and middle class, and no legacy. Come on people, this is getting a little ridiculous here :) This isn't supposed to be a competition in humility

be positive! woooowoooo ur chances arent 5% thats a bit silly.

By the way, I seriously doubt that the predictions are too OPTIMISTIC... traditionally on CC we have a 50%+ admit rate for ED ;), and most people put themselves down for .0000001%

I think people don't wanna go over 50% because they don't want to seem like they're boasting.

eh.. not at wharton.. wharton ED on CC is only marginally higher than in real life

Yeah, but 5 of the APs I self-study for are jokes like Human Geography...if you take AP World, definatley take Human Geograph...cake walk. And for the 2300 I score very high in two section and got in the very low 700s for the third, so that hurts my chaces. PLus i live in the Philly burbs which destroys all hope of getting in because they HATE Philly burb kids (though my school has a great relationship- we get about 40% in over all) Still, I have no real hooks so I think I'm being practical.

gmman- if I do get in, I'll buy you a cookie at Penn but I don't think I'll have that opprotunity

a cookie?!?

man you're cheap

i'm buying (through a junior or senior intermediary, of course) champagne (pronounced sham-ponn-yuhh) for y'all if i get in.

but i won't. so no worries

it better be dom perignon or moet.. and not that 1 dollar bubbly that uncle joe makes in his basement

really? i'll use the free lan cables they give us and i'll host a lan party... cuz you know i'm a computer geek, but then again, the prospects of my addmittance are as low as the bandwidth on my dad's wireless nerd factor

hahaha
i've no freakin clue what that meant, cujoe

deedub man i'm springin' fool

Goodness gracious, I just discovered these forums today and I'm already addicted. Now I better go play around with some Calculus--I can't just count on getting into Penn on Wednesday.

I think I am the only person who hasn't done this yet...

Accept:
1) 4.0 Unweighted GPA with 16 AP/IB courses total
2) ECs with leaderships, service hours, and lots of state awards
3) Shown interest in Penn (summer program)
4) Essays were pretty good, I think
5) SATII

Defer/Reject
1) Average SAT-->2100
2) Asian female

I really hope all my other stuff make up for my average SAT score... but it looks like everyone applying this year is pretty set for all the categories colleges look at. *fingers crossed!

im gonna say like 28% acceptance...im basing that off the likely acceptance rate.

Prediction 50% Deferral 30% Accepted 20% Rejected

Chances: 10 (accepted)/ 60 (deferred) / 30 (rejected)

URM- female hispanic

Brother currently attends-legacy??

woman whose in charge of a Latino club wrote a letter of rec for me

good counselor rec

love for spanish and portguguese languages = hook??

Low SAT's

average ec's/ only 2 leadership positions

not great teacher recs

avg gpa

i def think im gonna get deferred

30% Accept
70% Rejected (ultimately)

Accepted:
1) Top 1% Rank
2) URM
3) 2100+ SAT

Reject
1) Few EC's
2) Cuz I suck
3) Cuz I suck

EDIT: After reading all the rest, you can pretty much forget about my chances at getting in. Yeah...
