I'm planning to major in Business, and I was planning to apply to LAS Econ with Preferred admission to Ross, but I just don't want to write another whole new essay for Ross (well my Econ essay and Business essay are basically the same). So if I am to transfer to Ross at Junior year, do I have to apply to Preferred admission now? Or is it only a way of showing an interest? Does applying to Preferred admission give a significant advantage?
Or possibly, am I seriously mistaken and not getting the point at all?

First of all, if you don’t do the preferred admit program, you apply freshman year – the Ross BBA is a 3-year deal. You don’t have to apply for preferred admission if you want to apply to the business school as a UM freshman. It does not hurt or help your chances should you choose to do so. If you write an econ essay for Ross you will be rejected. Actually, you really shouldn’t bother applying for the preferred admission program. Every single question you asked could be answered by looking at the Ross website for 5 minutes and applying common sense.
