Is anyone else going? i am and i'm a little nervous.

At first I didn't want to go, because I feel like i'm missing out on my last summer before college. And this is the first summer i will actually have the chance to enjoy myself. (no college applications, no summer homework, etc.)

I feel like its basically starting college two months early.

But it DOES beat having a summer job and being stuck at home. And i'm trusting that it will be a good experience and will help me be ahead of the game this upcoming fall.

Does anyone have any idea what this program is like?? if there is anyone else who got invited or has gone in the past, let me know what you think! thanks!

its a six-week summer program for students who have been admitted. you take classes and live on campus and they pay for your tuition, room and board, meal plan, and waive your “summer employment” thing on your financial aid.

its suppose to give you a step up for the fall.

some students have to do the program, do well in the program, or else their acceptance will get revoked. i think its called the HEOP program or something like that.

other students have no clue why they got invited, like me. i’m not sure if its good or bad.

i don’t think a lot of people know about it because most students don’t get invited, only 175 students get invited.

From what I heard, it was for students who are not “academically prepared.” So they must go through this 6 week program to be on par with everyone else.

Well I was kinda bummed about it at first because I had to cancel my summer plans, but then I just decided to keep an open mind about it. It’s gonna give us the chance to really get to know a few of the people in our class early so I’m cool with that. As for the rumors about us not being academically prepared, the way I figure it if it’s true then one of two things will happen. Either we prove to them we can handle it (most likely it’s the first one) or it’s a wake up call to something a person can’t handle. Besides, it’s free classes so who can complain about that? Unless you’re gonna be saving the world from burning this summer if sounds like a good idea to go!

i don’t think of it as being academically unprepared.

if i was academically unprepared, i would not have been accepted in the first place.

if i were admitted underneath the HEOP thing, then maybe it would be a different story. but i wasn’t. i had the option of going, it wasn’t required.

i’m a little sad to see my summer go, but it sounds like a good experience. you get free classes and will be ahead of the game in the fall. is there anyone who has already gone who can give some insight?

It’s amazing, yes I did have to cancel summer plans, but I think it was worth it. Those friends will most likely stick by u the next 4 years here, so try to make lots of friends while u can. Also, some of the credits I took during PSP fulfilled some of my requirements =D
