prefrosh weekend parties

Which ones are the best? There are so many choices!

What are the choices and where did you find them?

Just the things I saw on the facebook group. Are finals clubs closing for the weekend?

trust me. the party scene this weekend will be so fresh and off the charts. most likely, yes, final clubs will be open. but party hop. that’s what i did last year. its worth it. trust me

Is Mather Lather happening this year?

Mather Lather was April 17th.

So, apparently, despite not having registered for prefrosh weekend, I now have a host (???). So I am now going. It’s sort of lame, because I was planning on being hosted by one of two people I know, but still cool I guess.

You can definitely call and ask them to change it. They won’t be offended or anything.

I was thinking I might just sleep elsewhere. I’ll only be around for one night, and she has six prefrosh. Rooms are big, but 6 plus the others in her suite sounds very crowded.

It’s probably a good thing that you’ll be around a lot of prefrosh. You’d be surprised how much insight you gain about a school by talking to people with questions instead of answers. I stayed with a high school friend at Yale and mainly dealt with him, but I barely spoke to my host at Harvard and spent most of the time with other prefrosh. I thought the latter was more valuable. Up to you though

Finals clubs do not close for the weekend, but like anybody else, you may have trouble getting in unless you know somebody or roll up with a pack of girls (or maybe if you say you’re a pre-frosh). Though Harvard may prefer it if they close, the university has no jurisdiction or authority over them whatsoever. During my Princeton Pre-Frosh weekend last year, they shut down the eating clubs. This ****ed me off and I didn’t like the idea of the entire campus social life being in the hands of a few Princeton administrators. Ergo, I find myself at Harvard now.

Seriously though, everyone I know here would love to party with pre-frosh.

As a parent, I find that last statement slightly alarming…

Be alarmed, svmom. There are tons of parties and underage drinking for those prefrosh who want to find it. Ditto for freshman and soph years before they are legal. Despite all the alcohol awareness training and online education, a record number of freshmen ended up at hospitals from excessive alcohol this past year. The best (or maybe only)antidote to the culture of drinking is the student’s individual will for moderation or abstinence-- so keep those lectures coming parents.

And to prefrosh–be careful, avoid being sent to the HUHS for alcohol overdose–that would probably spell R-E-S-C-I-N-D.

It seemed to me that you didn’t always want to tell some people you were prefrosh at parties. You say prefrosh, they hear naive.

Excellent advice, Millancad.

Have fun at the profrosh weekend guys… tell me how it goes :)!!!

I’ve had enough of parties for the next few months. What else is going on during the nights?

Do IT!!!

I chose my host for Bulldog Days (a close school friend) and it was the best decision ever!!! I made so many older friends who really took care of me and showed me the ropes - I was never bored for a second, and instead of doing the awkward “looking-for-vaguely-familiar-people” thing at dining halls I went out to cafes and went out for dinner in the places only locals know. AND you get to hear about and go to the actual parties rather than just being limited to the prefrosh ones.

Anyway, request away! Yale’s lets you name your host - I think Harvard would do the same?

If all else fails, just unofficially move! Ppl I spoke to did that last year.

There are three dances scheduled at the upperclass Houses over the weekend of Prefrosh: “Early Action” at Adams House dining hall on Friday, 10pm to 2am, sponsored by the Latino Men’s Collective. Leverett House 80’s Dance is Saturday., April 24, 10pm-2am (you can wear your leg-warmers and headbands). “Get yo’ Jollies” dance is sponsored by the Harvard Black Mens’ Forum Saturday, April 24, 11pm-2am, at Dunster House dining hall. The cost for entry is usually around $7.00 per event.

The a cappella jam! Don’t miss it.
