PreLaw studies at UW Vs. Brandeis

From which of these two schools would I have a better preparation for the Law school? I've heard that Brandeis have a lot of pre-law students.

It's not going to make any difference. For as many prospective law students as they have, Brandeis is very poorly represented at the top law schools.

does that mean, whether I go to UW or Brandeis, it would be poorly represented at the top law schools? Or do you mean just the Brandeis that is? I heard from many people that the undergrad. reputation is not really a key factor for the law school admissions... But I definately think it would make a difference if you are from one of the Ivies or something near. However, Brandeis is top 34th and so is UW-Madison...
What makes Brandeis a poorly represented college at the top law school?

It makes little sense to go to Brandeis over UW-Madison for pre law.

First, UW-Madison has a stronger reputation nationally while Brandeis still remains a mostly jewish, slighty difficult to get into, NE private.

Second, Brandeis will cost you a lot more over 4 years and that would be better spent on the 150K cost of a legal education

Third, Wisconsin has stronger political connections as that it has a top ranked political science department that is 5-10 minutes (walking) away from the WI capital. While LSAT/GPA are the most important in law admissions, internships and letters of recommendation can help suppliment an application.

Fourth, Wisconsin is more fun. I'd personally miss the sports, the massive amount of clubs, and Lake Mendota.

Don't let this website confuse you though, while I think UW is stronger than Brandeis on rep, outside of the ivys and a few select LACs/top private universities, a 3.7 from these two will get the same advantages.

My point was that you shouldn't let the fact that so many students at Brandeis are "pre-law" sway you in any way. Undergraduate rankings really don't matter, either.

Go to the one you like the most; major in what you like the most. Have a high GPA and LSAT and it should make absolutely no difference.
