Could anyone please explain to me the Rutgers Financial Aid Planning Letter and it's significance? It has a list of awards that I am eligible for...does this mean I need to now apply for them or what? Any information at all on the Planning Letter would be very helpful

No (I think). However, they are subject to change from what I heard.

The Preliminary Aid Package tells you what your financial aid is most likely going to be. It can change, but it usually doesn’t. You don’t have to accept everything you’re offered. For example, if you are offered a loan that you do not need/want, you don’t have to accept it. Later on you will be asked to determine which parts of the Final Financial Aid Package you wish to accept. Everything can be done online, so you don’t have to apply for anything else.

sweet, good news to me. thank you very much
