I’m continuing to do a preliminary college search and I was hoping you guys could help me. Some criteria I’m looking into is:
•It needs to have a good psychology program
•I’d like it to be a small to medium sized school
•Acceptance rate somewhere in the 40-50% or more
•Tuition should not be more than $20,000
Some extra information:
In state California
GPA of 3.8
Test scores? GPA is unweighted or weighted? # of AP/IB/DE and Honors classes?
What do you consider Medium size? Private or Public?
Would you be eligible for Cal Grant/Pell Grants?
Is $20,000 your budget and you can pay this amount? What about Housing/Meals/Transportation?
Do you need all expenses to be below $20,000 or just tuition?
This is preliminary so I haven’t taken tests yet. I’m just looking for schools with a good program for psychology. GPA is unweighted. I consider medium sized to be 5,000 to 10,000
Based on your criteria for size, you need to look at private schools. You did not answer the question about your budget. Is $20K for tuition/room/board/books/transportation or tuition only? Most privates are in the $40K+ range, so you would need to look for schools that either give you good financial aid and/or merit aid to bring costs into the $20K range.
USC, Occidental, St Mary’s, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount, University of San Diego, Cal Lutheran, Cal Baptist, Claremont Colleges (Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Pomona) are worth looking into but without test scores and more information, it is difficult to give recommendations.
