Premarital Sex

“but I fail to see how it is the all-knowing truth to EVERYONE.”

Yeah, I wish people would acknowledge the amount of uncertainty there is in every religion.

That’s completely different TrueLove. Killing 50 people infringes upon the rights of others, which is why murder is a crime. Pre-marital consensual sex does not affect anybody except the people involved in the sex. Try not to make such obviously extreme and false analogies next time.

^Try to follow the thread.

Well, I dare you to read Religious Text X, Religious Text Y, and Religious Text Z! If you do so, you will run smack into Truth. It is impossible to deny the Truth of god X, god Y, and god Z. But, of course, to live in it might not make your selfish nature too happy…

Truth ^

…

Hey goot, pre-marital sex is a crime by Jesus’ standards. He does not want us to be involved in it because it messes our sense of commitment up, causes disease, and sentences one’s soul to death. So, it is analogous in a spiritual sense.

^what in the world?

Read the bible. Jesus forgives, hun. You don’t have to be perfect.

CONDOM.

you should add an IMO to that

Ok, well I’ve read the Bible cover to cover. So I’ve probably read as much as you have. I’ve also read lost Gospels, so I may have read more than you. I’ve also read Bibles in Latin, not the ones translated into English, so I still may have read more than you.

But NEITHER of us has read ALL of it since a LARGE part of the Bible has been cut and misconstrued.

Actually, the quote was from Rent, so finishing the quote would be “La vie Boheme”.

No trumpet, what the heaven.

What’s a soul?

Oh. Sorry about that :P

Roma, I have read every word of the Bible, cover to cover, many times. You may have read it, BUT you must have the Holy Spirit to help you understand it.

“the immaterial part of a person; the actuating cause of an individual life”

FYI- Jesus isn’t God.

Repentance is a critical part of forgiveness. It’s one thing to make poor decisions, but to do so because you’re confident you can just be forgiven … well it just doesn’t seem conducive to true repentance.

@TrueLove: …

Again, that’s true enough, but isn’t getting us anywhere. And how do you know romani doesn’t? Can you put that into terms useful to this debate? If you can’t, it’s a useless point, even if true.

I honestly respect the choice of those who do not believe in engaging in premarital sex for religious reasons or otherwise.
But I don’t see premarital sex as a sin, everyone has different beliefs and values and if you think you just need to love someone to sleep with them, I don’t see what is wrong with that.
I try to be a liberal and open-minded person.

Wait how do you know the soul exists? I don’t understand.

Amen to that.

Meadow, let’s provide a Jeopardy answer to your question, “soul?”. Ans: What is James Brown.
